Amit Goyal, MD, is a neurosurgeon who specializes in diagnosing and treating disorders of the nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord.

Born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia and having completed his undergraduate and medical schooling in Charlottesville and Washington D.C., respectively, Dr. Goyal is glad to return to his roots in the Mid-Atlantic region. Pursuing medicine was a natural path for him as it merged his intellectual strengths in math and science with his love of connecting with people.

Not one to practice cookie-cutter medicine, Dr. Goyal approaches each neurosurgery consultation with a listening ear and the goal of ensuring that his patients’ needs and concerns are understood and substantiated. He enjoys operating and all other aspects of his field, but he gets the most satisfaction from speaking with patients, making their day a little brighter by being heard, helping them understand their treatment options, and then mutually deciding on a plan that will benefit them. He has expertise in state-of-the-art treatments, including endoscopic and minimally-invasive techniques and robotic-assisted surgery.

Dr. Goyal was drawn to central Delaware’s quaint charm and sense of community like the Midwestern towns he experienced during his residency in Minnesota. He enjoys being close to family and loves being near the coast where he, his wife and two young children, along with their labrador huskies, can enjoy the outdoors, particularly hiking and the beaches. Dr. Goyal’s other hobbies include tennis, basketball, swimming, snowboarding, and sailing.
