Peter Konchak, DO, is a maternal-fetal medicine physician specializing in the care of expectant mothers and their babies.
Dr. Konchak’s interest in becoming a doctor was confirmed one summer during his college years when he worked as a hospital orderly, assisting medical and nursing staff. He’s always had a passion for helping others. He was drawn to obstetrics and the maternal-fetal medicine field because it allowed him to play an important part of people’s lives by caring for mothers and bringing babies into the world.
With more than 35 years’ experience in his specialty, one element has been a constant in Dr. Konchak’s career—he always treats his patients as if they were his own family members. He is a retired captain in the United States Navy and has provided gynecological, obstetric and maternal-fetal medicine services to patients at naval hospitals and other military facilities across the U.S. and abroad. Before joining Bayhealth, he was the director of maternal-fetal medicine at Inspira Health Network in southern New Jersey.
In addition to providing expert and compassionate care to support growing families, he is experienced in educating and training future physicians in his field. He’s been a professor in various medical schools and residency programs including Michigan State University, University of Vermont, University of New England, and Rowan University.
Outside of work, Dr. Konchak is very active in his church. He enjoys reading as well as traveling and spending time with his family.
