Roseann P. Velez, FNP-BC

Roseann Velez, DNP, FNP-BC, FAANP, is a family nurse practitioner who sees adult patients. She is the nurse practitioner coordinator for Bayhealth’s Population Health program which aims to strengthen the overall health of our patients through improved coordination of care and addressing chronic problems.

Since her elementary school years, Roseann has had a desire to care for people. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree she went on to pursue a master’s in nursing administration, a post-master’s family nurse practitioner certificate, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. She chose family practice because it allowed her to learn the full spectrum of healthcare and provide a broad range of primary care services.

Roseann has been a family nurse practitioner for more than twenty years. She has clinical experience in primary care, urgent care, orthopedics, and mission work. She is most fulfilled when she can enable others to improve their mind, body and soul. She uses a combination of empathy, compassion, knowledge, and kindness in caring for her patients.

Much of Roseann’s career has been dedicated to teaching nurse practitioners while maintaining her own clinical practice—with a goal of improving the quality of care for patients. She is the president-elect for the Delaware Coalition of Nurse Practitioners. She is also a fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and has presented locally, nationally and internationally. Her past leadership roles in the Nurse Practitioner Association of Maryland, including serving as president, were instrumental in the passage of legislation that gave Maryland nurse practitioners full practice authority—to deliver patient care to the full extent of their training, without physician supervision.

When she’s not working, Roseann enjoys exercising, reading, meditating, and mostly, spending time with her family.
