Stephen Kessler, MD, is an obstetrician and gynecologist (OB-GYN), a doctor who specializes in women’s reproductive health.
He followed in the footsteps of his father who was an OB-GYN in the Philadelphia area for many years. Observing a baby delivery for the first time at the age of nine and assisting with a C-section at age 14, he was awestruck by the impact of bringing human life into the world. Dr. Kessler knew he’d found his niche and eventually took over his father’s practice.
With more than 35 years’ experience in his field, Dr. Kessler provides full-spectrum OB-GYN care. This includes prenatal care and deliveries for those with high-risk or complicated pregnancies, and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries to treat a range of gynecological problems.
Dr. Kessler’s top priority is giving patients the time they need to share about themselves and their medical concerns, and offering personable and empathetic care that immediately puts them at ease. He has deep awareness and respect for the diversity of patients’ individual backgrounds, including cultural and religious elements that may play in to their care. Whether it’s developing a birth plan or making a decision about a treatment—he works with each patient individually in meeting their needs and carrying out the best outcome.
Outside of work, family time means everything to Dr. Kessler. He and his wife, who is a doula and dog interpreter, have proudly raised children together and now live with their nine beloved dogs at home.
