Before your baby is born, it's a good idea to choose a pediatrician and let their office know your due date. This helps you have a plan in place before delivery. Before you leave the hospital, your Bayhealth care team will tell you when your baby should see the pediatrician and help you schedule your baby's first appointment if needed.

You can feed your baby soon after birth when they show signs that they are hungry. During the first few weeks, babies should eat every two to three hours. If your baby doesn’t wake up to eat, gently wake them for a feeding.

Yes. Most newborns sleep 16 to 20 hours a day during their first few weeks. This is normal and helps them grow. Even if your baby sleeps a lot, they should still eat every two to three hours. Learn more about safe sleep habits.

It’s recommended to dress your baby in one more layer of clothing than you’re wearing. If you feel too hot or too cold, your baby probably does too. Signs your baby may be too warm include flushed skin, sweating or being extra fussy.

Many babies are born with stork bites, strawberry marks or newborn rashes. These are common and usually go away on their own within a few days or weeks. If you are worried about your baby’s skin, talk to your pediatrician.
