Michael J. Metzing, MBA, is vice president, corporate support services.

In this role since January 2012, he administers nine departments, providing leadership, strategic vision, tactical execution, and business expertise to support Bayhealth’s diverse building and real estate portfolio. He also serves as an executive-level partner to the organization’s senior vice presidents, ensuring the successful planning, design, and construction of facilities to further the strategic goals and priorities of the health system.

Through his wide-ranging leadership, Bayhealth has completed several major projects at the health system, among them, the Bayhealth Sussex Campus replacement hospital and outpatient sites, Harrington Outpatient Center, graduate medical education facilities projects (Bayhealth Family Medicine, Bayhealth Internal Medicine, PCOM Simulation Center at Bayhealth, medical resident classrooms and lounges), the Total Care free-standing emergency department, and outpatient clinics.

A member of the National Fire Protection Association and the American Society for Health Care Engineering, Metzing is a graduate of State University of New York Maritime College (BE, Marine Engineering) and Wilmington University (MBA, with a concentration in health care administration).

He is a board member for several community organizations, serves as an elder at his church, and mentors youth who do not have a father in their lives.
