Bayhealth is pleased to announce it has recently received a $20,000 grant from Bank of America. This grant will support Bayhealth’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs, which are bringing talented resident physicians to our area and bolstering access to healthcare services for central and southern Delawareans.

“We are grateful for the generosity of Bank of America,” said Bayhealth’s Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer and GME Designated Institutional Official Gary Siegelman, MD. “Their support is helping to strengthen our physician residency programs, which are expanding local access to high-quality healthcare and will have long-term impact in keeping our community healthy.”

Family Medicine and Internal Medicine were Bayhealth’s first two residency programs to launch. The resident physicians are already working side-by-side with Bayhealth physicians to care for our community members in the hospitals and at the Bayhealth Family Medicine, Dover and Bayhealth Internal Medicine, Milford practices. The General Surgery Residency program will train its residents in the surgical care specialty beginning July 2022.

The grant is part of Bank of America's philanthropic giving efforts in local communities. Awardees were selected for their commitment to addressing basic needs and workforce development for individuals and families, in particular during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Bayhealth has been a valuable resource for our community for years and we continue to be inspired by all that they do to keep Delawareans healthy,” said Chip Rossi, President of Bank of America Delaware. “The growth of their physician residency programs will continue to help strengthen our community and benefit our neighbors in the future.”
