Excitement Builds for Bayhealth’s Graduate Medical Education Programs

As a regional healthcare leader who is driven to increase access to healthcare services to everyone in the community, Bayhealth is the only health system in central and southern Delaware to launch residency programs. As excitement continues to build for the 21 new doctors who will arrive this July as part of the Internal Medicine Residency and Family Medicine Residency programs, the Bayhealth Foundation along with program leaders host community members and organizations to share the positive impact the residency programs will have on our region’s growing population.

Most recently, Internal Medicine Program Director Joseph Deutsch, MD; Family Medicine Program Director Brintha Vasagar, MD, MPH, FAAFP; and General Surgery Program Director Bradford Mitchell, MD, FACS, ECNU, presented the benefits of the programs to the Dover Capital City Rotary Club. Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in their communities, and in themselves.

To date, nearly $1 million has been raised in support of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs. “There’s excitement in the air around these programs,” said Bayhealth Foundation President Lindsay Rhodenbaugh. “People throughout our community understand how residents are going to increase access to care now and for years to come. Funds donated to GME will undoubtably have a positive impact on this community – and we’re thrilled so many donors recognize this impact too.”
