Wednesday, June 14, 2023 | Awards & Recognitions
As a seasoned ICU nurse, Senior Director of Clinical Practice & Professional Development Angeline Dewey, MSN, RN, APRN, ACNS-BC, CCRN-K, CNRN, has experienced her fair share of patient medical situations. She has a rich history of critical care nursing, 20 years, specifically in Critical Care, with a total of 26 years at Bayhealth.

In 2019, Dewey alongside of former Senior Director of Patient Care Services Andrea Holecek, EdD, MSN, MBA, RN, NE-BC, FACHE, wrote their first book titled, The Nurse’s Healthcare Ethics Committee Handbook.

During Dewey’s time in the ICU, she was part of a planning committee for the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses National Teaching Institute (NTI). There she met another Clinical Nurse Specialist from the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, who reached out after a conference because he was editing a textbook. “This is the value of networking,” shared Dewey. “I wouldn’t have had this opportunity to author these chapters, if it wasn’t for the connections I had made at that conference.”

Dewey gladly accepted the chance to contribute more toward the body of knowledge. Critical Care Nursing: A Holistic Approach, is an established textbook in its 12th edition. Dewey’s work within two of the chapters focus on important topics in the healthcare realm — Ethical and Legal care issues in Critical Care nursing and Patient/Family Education in Critical Care. She took time in this textbook to do heavy editing on pre-established written chapters creating significant content changes.

“When you agree to do something like this, it’s to contribute to the nursing profession and to feel that sense of accomplishment—you don’t do it for the money,” shares Dewey. Bayhealth is proud to highlight Dewey in this great achievement.
