At Bayhealth, we are incredibly grateful for the support of all of our donors who help make a positive impact in the lives of those we serve. We would like to shine a spotlight on two particular donors whose generosity and commitment to our cause have truly made a difference.
Scott and Kim Connell have become great friends and supporters of Bayhealth. When Scott’s job brought him from Wilmington to Dover, he formed a fast relationship with Bayhealth through his business as Resident Director of Merrill Lynch. Two of his colleagues are past Board Presidents of Bayhealth and quickly helped him get acquainted with the organization.
It didn’t take Scott and Kim long to realize that Bayhealth is more than an institution. It’s the Bayhealth people who bring it to life. “Every Bayhealth team member and clinician from senior leaders to bedside team members have made our experiences top notch,” expressed Scott. “They’re the reason that Kim and I have chosen to support so many of Bayhealth’s efforts to care for the health and wellbeing of our community.”
Throughout their time in Dover, Bayhealth has been there for their entire family. “The care we have received has been outstanding each and every time,” continued Kim. “Our family has visited several areas of Bayhealth through our healthcare experiences, including surgical care, emergency department, outpatient services and more. Two of our grandchildren were born at Bayhealth during the COVID pandemic. Even though it incredibly challenging time for the healthcare workforce, everyone at Bayhealth delivered amazing care.”
The Connells are very involved in events and programs at Bayhealth. Their support of the Foundation’s annual golf tournaments, Graduate Medical Education residency programs, building of Bayhealth Sussex Campus, fashion shows, nurse hero events, cancer awareness month, Go Pink, and more.
One of Scott’s contributions to Bayhealth is his volunteer service as a member of the Bayhealth Cancer Institute board. “My mom passed away from cancer, so this was something that I wanted to learn more about and support in any way I could,” said Scott. “I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of this amazing institute and meet many of the people who are caring for our community members. Doctors Iftekhar Khan and Rishi Sawhney, John Shevock and other team members and clinicians work closely through Bayhealth’s affiliation with Penn Medicine. They make it their priority to educate the local community about early cancer detection and screenings, as well as to offer innovative cancer treatment that is available right here at Bayhealth.”
“We will continue to support Bayhealth for years into the future,” concluded Scott. “It has been fun and educational to attend these events, learn about the services, and make personal connections with Bayhealth leadership, the clinicians and those at the bedside. They’re just really good people. Kim and I believe in Bayhealth’s mission and are blessed to have this great organization in our community.”
“We are inspired by Scott and Kim’s passion for our mission and their willingness to make a difference in the lives of others,” expressed Bayhealth Foundation President Lindsay Rhodenbaugh, DMin. “They are true ambassadors for Bayhealth, helping to educate others about the outstanding services offered right here locally. We are truly grateful for the partnership and support of donors like the Connells. Their continued commitment to Bayhealth has made a lasting impact, and we are honored to have them as part of our community.”
