Bayhealth Shares Health System Growth and Campus Enhancements with Milford Chamber

Monday, February 9, 2026 | Bayhealth Foundation

Kyle E. Benoit, MHA, FACHE, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Bayhealth, recently presented an overview of Bayhealth’s continued growth and strategic investments to members of the Milford Chamber of Commerce.

During the presentation, Benoit highlighted enhancements at Bayhealth Hospital Sussex Campus, a 250-acre campus that has expanded significantly since opening in 2019. The campus now includes 157 beds, following the addition of 24 acute care beds in 2020 and five labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum beds in 2023. In 2020, just one year after opening, the hospital was named a Top Hospital by The Leapfrog Group, one of only 105 hospitals nationwide and the only hospital in Delaware to receive the distinction.

Benoit also shared updates on recent and upcoming campus developments, including the Bayhealth Ann L. Burton Center for Children. The child care center, located on the Sussex Campus, will accommodates 102 children and is designed to support working families by providing convenient, on-site care for team members. The facility includes age-specific classrooms, indoor and outdoor play areas, a lactation room and future expansion capacity.

Additional Sussex Campus updates included the opening of a 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital operated by Post Acute Medical in October 2024 and future plans for a four-story medical office building anticipated to open in 2027. Benoit also outlined proposed plans for an interventional suite designed to support minimally invasive procedures across multiple specialties.

The presentation also addressed long-term planning at Bayhealth Hospital Kent Campus, including emergency department reconfiguration and phased vertical expansion projects intended to enhance patient flow, surgical services and access to care over the next decade.

Bayhealth continues to invest in facilities, technology and services to support clinicians, team members and the communities it serves throughout central and southern Delaware.
