Foundation presentation on Graduate Medical Education at Coastal Club

Foundation Hosts Events Promoting Graduate Medical Education

Friday, May 14, 2021 | Bayhealth Foundation, Expanded Services
As the region’s healthcare leader, Bayhealth is driven to improve access to care for everyone living in our communities. As central and southern Delaware’s largest healthcare system, Bayhealth is the first in the region to launch residency programs. These programs will attract the best and brightest new physicians to join Bayhealth as physician residents. Starting this July, 21 new doctors will be joining the Internal Medicine Residency and Family Medicine Residency programs.

Bayhealth’s Foundation has partnered with the residency program directors to host community events to share information about the programs and how they will impact our area. Most recently, the Bayhealth Foundation has begun hosting hybrid events that allow for socially distanced in-person gatherings with a virtual option for those who would prefer to attend from home.

General Surgery Program Director Bradford Mitchell, MD, FACS, ECNU, recently presented in-person for residents living in the Coastal Club community in Lewes while Family Medicine Program Director Brintha Vasagar, MD, MPH, FAAFP; and Internal Medicine Program Director Joseph Deutsch, MD, presented virtually to the residents. This model has allowed the Foundation and program directors to reach more community members in central and southern Delaware.

“We’re pleased to be able to connect with our community members in a fashion they’re comfortable with as we share important information about these new residency programs,” said Bayhealth Foundation President Lindsay Rhodenbaugh. “We know our community members are excited to welcome these new physicians to our area and we can’t wait to see the impact they will have on those we serve.”

To date, nearly $2 million has been raised in support of the Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs.  To schedule a socially-distant gathering to learn more about the Internal Medicine, Family Medicine and/or General Surgery residency programs, and to understand how your donation can make an impact, visit Bayhealth.org/Foundation, email Foundation@Bayhealth.org or call 302-744-7015.
