Quality healthcare means a healthy community
The long awaited and highly anticipated opening of the Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus is fast approaching. The 169-acre health campus endeavor is progressing quickly thanks to the hard work and dedication of more than 60 trade partners — including Becker Morgan Group.
Becker Morgan Group is contracted through CannonDesign as the civil engineer of the project. It worked closely with the city of Milford to annex the property from Lincoln into Milford. As the civil engineer, Becker Morgan Group was responsible for most of the land planning such as determining the position of the building, the roads, parking, entrances, and underground utilities.
Gregg Moore, P.E., leads Becker Morgan Group’s civil engineering and surveying division companywide. He heads all the Delaware operations, which include the Dover and Newark offices, providing civil engineering, surveying, and architectural and interior design.
“Great healthcare results in a healthy community,” Moore said. “It’s also one of the biggest job creators and great for the economy.”
Bayhealth Foundation President Lindsay Rhodenbaugh said Bayhealth has significantly benefited from support from Becker Morgan Group. “Gregg and his firm have been great friends of Bayhealth for a number of years,” he said. “His professional expertise and strong demonstration of philanthropic support are deeply appreciated.”
Born and raised in Dover, Moore has a long history with the community and Bayhealth. His firm was a partner in the Bayhealth Kent General 400,000- square-foot expansion project in 2012. “The expansion resulted in the hospital being better equipped to treat trauma, emergency, and cancer patients,” he said. “It was wonderful for the people in Kent, and the new hospital will bring the same results to Sussex.”
The Delaware Council of Engineering Societies named Moore the 2013 Engineer of the Year, both for his excellence in the field and for his strong community contributions. In 2008, Moore led the effort to form the Downtown Dover Partnership, where he continues to serve as president. In 2010, Governor Jack Markell appointed Moore to the Delaware Solid Waste Authority. In addition to being a member of the Bayhealth, Inc. Board, he also has served on the Board of the Central Delaware YMCA, and currently serves on the boards of the Delaware Police Chiefs Foundation and Wesley College.
Moore said he contributes to Bayhealth because strong, quality healthcare will not only meet the needs of the residents, but also boost the local economy. “It’s exciting to be a part of the board and involved with the decisions and process of building the new hospital,” he said. “I personally made a donation and my company matched it. The area needs a new hospital, it’s time, and it’s going to be great.”
