Senior Vice President, Chief Ambulatory Officer and Administrator, Bayhealth Sussex Campus
As Bayhealth’s Senior Vice President, Chief Ambulatory Officer and Administrator, Bayhealth Sussex Campus, Michael Ashton is responsible for leading Bayhealth’s ambulatory growth strategy while continuing to oversee operations at Bayhealth Sussex Campus. With more than 20 years of healthcare industry experience, he brings skills in healthcare operations, leadership, physician relations, change management, and leadership development.
In this systemwide role, Ashton is responsible for the development and expansion of ambulatory sites, services and care models that meet patients where they are. He continues to serve as Administrator of Bayhealth Sussex Campus and retains operational responsibility for his existing areas, including Bayhealth’s Ambulatory Services, Laboratory Services, Sleep Services, Rehabilitation Services, Outpatient Testing Centers, Diagnostic Imaging, Women’s Centers, School-Based Wellness Centers, Occupational Health, and strategic partnerships with BAYADA at Bayhealth and Post-Acute Medical.
His expanded leadership role reflects Bayhealth’s strategic focus on advancing care beyond the walls of the hospital by improving access, enhancing the patient experience and supporting long-term organizational sustainability through ambulatory care growth.
He is passionate about care delivery systems and building models of care that strengthen the patient, provider and staff experience.
Prior to joining the health system in 2011, Ashton was administrative director - Medical Service Line at WellSpan Health in York, PA, and held roles at Guthrie Healthcare System and Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Hospital.
Ashton received his bachelor of science from Brigham Young University and earned a master of public health at Loma Linda University.
When not at work, Ashton enjoys being outdoors, taking care of his health, traveling and spending time with his wife Jessica and their four children.
