Bayhealth Holds Ribbon Cutting for New Harrington Medical Facility

Tuesday, January 24, 2023 |

Bayhealth celebrated the beginning of a new chapter for healthcare in Harrington by holding a ribbon cutting for a brand new medical facility.

The event also marked a celebration of Vincent Lobo, DO, who served as a family medicine physician in the community for over 50 years. Many of his patients attended the ribbon cutting to show their support.

The new, 10,000 square foot facility located at 16681 S. DuPont Highway is a short distance from the former space, which was the longtime home of Bayhealth Primary Care, Harrington and Bayhealth Outpatient Center, Harrington.

“This facility will bring significant and lasting benefits to our community members. It will mean increased access to top-quality care that will keep us healthier— from being able to see a trusted primary care doctor to getting lab work or imaging done, this new facility will serve residents right here, close to home,” said Bayhealth President and CEO Terry Murphy, FACHE.

Bayhealth Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Gary Siegelman, MD, touted Bayhealth’s progress in addressing the shortages of primary care physicians in central and southern Delaware, citing Bayhealth’s Graduate Medical Education programs.

“What this means for local residents is there are more doctors available close to home to take care of you, your family and your neighbors,” he said.

He also spoke about the impact Dr. Lobo has made in the Harrington community.

“Beyond his work as a physician, Dr. Lobo served the City of Harrington in other capacities – such as Vice Mayor, Mayor, Police Commissioner and Counsel member. In all his work, the same theme remains: How deeply he cared for the people of his community here in Harrington,” he said.

The new space holds exam rooms, a Coumadin Clinic, and outpatient testing services including lab and imaging. The new building was also strategically designed with extra space for future services to ensure that it can keep pace with the growth of Harrington and the surrounding communities.
