Local community members and residents of the Baywood Greens community had the opportunity to learn more about Bayhealth’s commitment to delivering exceptional care close to home during a special community presentation.
Bayhealth Oncology Service Line Senior Director and Bayhealth Cancer Institute Executive Director John Shevock, ACHE, FACMPE, highlighted the advanced resources available at Bayhealth Cancer Institute at both the Kent and Sussex campus, where patients have access to exam rooms, infusion bays, radiation therapy, imaging and supportive services in one convenient location.
Just as important as technology, Bayhealth offers a wide range of programs that guide patients through every step of their journey – from prevention and early detection screenings to genetic counseling, clinical research, survivorship support and community outreach.
“Our goal is to make sure people in our community don’t have to travel far to receive state-of-the-art cancer care,” said Shevock. “We are proud to provide compassionate, high-quality care right here in central and southern Delaware.”
Community outreach was another key theme of the presentation. Recent efforts have included cancer screenings at local events, educational programs on prevention and targeted outreach to populations who may have limited access to care.
As a member of Penn Cancer Network, Bayhealth Cancer Institute also connects patients with additional expertise and research opportunities while continuing to expand services locally.
“Cancer touches so many lives, and it takes all of us working together to make a difference,” said Bayhealth Foundation President Lindsay Rhodenbaugh, DMin. “The generosity of our community helps us bring hope, healing and advanced care to patients and families when they need it most.”
