Black History Month Spotlight: Gifty Boateng

Gifty Boateng, MSN, RN, CPAN, is a certified post anesthesia nurse who manages the care of surgical patients through pre-admission, preoperative and postoperative care. Boateng is dedicated to ensuring that her patients’ experience is aligned with Bayhealth’s mission and vision of delivering the nation’s best healthcare to our communities.

As we celebrate Black History Month, Bayhealth is highlighting some of our team members in a series called “Rising Above.” Read their inspiring stories of service and affecting change in our community and workplace on Bayhealth’s social media pages.

Boateng works hard to help bridge the health care disparities among her community by ensuring that everyone has access to health care resources, health education and access to free, healthy food. She participates in and organizes community health fairs at various community centers in order to reach more underserved individuals.

She has a passion for serving others, which led her to found a nonprofit organization in 2021 called Global Ubuntu Impact Foundation. The mission of the foundation is “Caring for Humanity.” They strive to bridge the hunger and healthcare disparity gaps in minority and underserved communities around the world, by providing healthy meals, clean water, education and healthcare resources. Boateng is also a proud member of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., which is an organization that focuses on “service to humanity,” especially in minority communities.

With 18 years of experience in her field, Boateng is an inspiration to her minority peers, who value her work ethic, leadership, and the healthy work environment she exhibits on a daily basis.

The message that Boateng wants to send to her peers is, “We must be the voice and the representative for your community. Try your absolute best to treat everyone you encounter with kindness, compassion, respect and empathy.”
