Bayhealth Rolls into October with Successful “Go Pink at the Rink” Event

Tuesday, October 24, 2023 | Cancer Care
Bayhealth kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness month with its inaugural “Go Pink at the Rink” event hosted on Oct. 6 at Dover Skating Center. The free event drew over 200 pinked-out attendees who were educated about the disease and the importance of getting screened.

Community members also had the opportunity to receive a free clinical breast exam in the Mobile Care Unit. Sandy Voss, NP, of Bayhealth Hematology/Oncology Associates performed screenings throughout the evening.

Go Pink at the Rink was established as an extension of Bayhealth's annual Go Pink! efforts that support breast cancer screenings for underserved populations and help increase awareness and education around the disease.

“We were thrilled with the turnout at our first Go Pink at the Rink event,” commented John Shevock, FACHE, FACMPE, Bayhealth Cancer Institute executive director and senior director of operations, Oncology Service Line. “It was an outside-the-box concept for us and it ended up being really effective—both in getting people screened and raising awareness and support around the disease.”

Bayhealth’s support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month will continue through October with the “Commit to the Cause” campaign. Community members are encouraged to commit to scheduling a mammogram and urging their loved ones to do the same...’cause it saves lives. Visit Bayhealth.org/Mammo to learn more and schedule a mammogram.
